Myers over Hamels

Postby commence8 » Fri Feb 29, 2008 3:08 am

OK, I think it's time to open up this topic.

Does anybody else see think the decision to have Myers start opening day instead of Hamels to be a non-issue?

It kind of reminds me when Radke would take opening day over Santana.

definitely a non-issue to me.... myers is the vet and i sorta agree with him that its a thank you for riding with the team last year when they needed him to close. right, left, right, left works out nicely too.

ive also heard a little rumor that it was so cole wasnt on the same dates as johan, but i dont know why that would bother anyone.

No big deal. I would have liked to watch Cole pitch opening day but he'll handle that task for the next millennium if everything goes right. I like having the R/L breakdown the only downside is that Myers and Cole won't pitch vs the Mets in the first series unless the 5th starter who I will not name gets skipped.

Hal·la·day, n. 1. every fifth day in Philadelphia. 2. a day of rest for the bullpen. 3. innings eater. 4. doc. 5. ace.

given that this was the case either way, it doesnt change anything...i actually rather face the mets the way it is, since johan wont be pitching most likely....

I'd rather see other teams adjust for the Phillies then the other way around...but still no big deal.
