Lets hope this is the case because that would open a spot for Pearce and he would be the starter on opening day

He has gone 1-11 since his last homer. He now down to the .264 range in avg, not good news

One Home Run today and only one AB.

Nady's AVG is down to .107.

rotoworld.

Pirates optioned OF Steve Pearce, SS Brian Bixler, RHP Ty Taubenheim and RHP Bryan Bullington to Triple-A Indianapolis; reassigned OF Andrew McCutchen, 3B Neil Walker, RHP T.J. Beam, INF Luis Cruz, RHP Brian Rogers and RHP Marino Salas to minor league camp.
Pearce had four homers, while no one else on the Pirates has more than two, but it wasn't enough to keep him in the majors. He'll wait for a Xavier Nady or Jason Bay trade. Likewise, Bixler will hope that Jack Wilson is moved this summer. Bullington goes down after allowing eight earned runs in eight innings.

makes no freaking sense. Why play Nady, he is old and not going to be in the future and he has sucked a$$ all spring. What does that tell the young guys in the organization that a guy hits more HR than anyone on the team and it wasn't good enough to get him a job over a guy hitting .107

Unbelievable. Apparently, they really want to keep their losing season streak alive...

if you haven't already seen it:

Mar 17 Updating a previous report, USAToday.com reports the Pittsburgh Pirates have optioned OF Steve Pearce to Triple-A Indianapolis.

He probably needs another half year in AAA anyway, but when he comes up, he should mash. I know that PIT is going to move him to the OF, too. So, I would think that they are also sending him to AAA to work on his defense.
