Scoring periods are weekly and begin every Monday.
Each team will be able to keep (protect) a maximum of 5 players from their roster heading into the following season(2009), 6 (2010), 7 (2011), 8 (2012). There are a few guidelines to follow as far as protecting players…
1) For each player that you keep drafted after round 3, you lose a draft pick the next year THREE ROUNDS HIGHER than each player's draft round the previous year (keeping a player drafted in the 7th round will cost a 4th round pick the next year, keeping him again will cost a 1st round pick the next, and so on). NOTE: NO players drafted in rounds 1 - 3 are able to be protected.
2) Free Agent’s keeper status will go as follows:
PLAYER ACQUIRED: SUBSEQUENT KEEPER PICK CHARGED
Once a player is drafted or kept, his draft round will not change. So if a player who was drafted in the 5th round got released and you picked him up in Week 1, his keeper status would apply to the 5th round, not the corresponding month he was picked up in.
In the event that a team wishes to keep multiple players that may "cost" the same pick, the team may either trade for a pick to supplement the kept player, or give the pick one round ahead of what the initial "cost" would be. (For example, if you have two 5th-rounders, keeping one will cost the fifth-round spot, and keeping the other will cost either a fourth-rounder or a pick that you acquire via trade within the fifth round or higher.)
Keeper announcements are due 7 days before each yearly draft. If they are not made, then it is assumed a team will not keep any players. All keeper announcements are final, and each team is allowed ONE keeper announcement. The final draft order will be announced BEFORE keeper lists are due.
Farm Keeper Policy:
Farm players will be defined as any player that has not accumulated a career total of 150 at bats (hitters) or 50 innings pitched (pitchers) in the major leagues. Any player drafted that fails to exceed these parameters can be kept with their round status frozen until the requirements are reached.
After a player reaches the above specifications, they can be kept in accordance to the normal keeper rules. For example, a player drafted in the 30th round could, in turn, be kept as a 27th rounder for the next draft season.
Farm players that are picked up during the season are subjected to the same keeper rules for all free agent acquisitions. Only drafted farm players may have frozen status, but once they are drafted and dropped, they are only available as free agent acquisitions.
In the name of simplicity, only farm players in the CBS system at draft time are eligible.
Each team may keep a maximum of 5 farm players from year to year. Those farm players to be kept will be announced at the scheduled time.
Farm players’ frozen draft status travels with them in the event of a trade.
Farm players that are called up to the majors must be activated by the end of the current scoring period + a week. Space must be made to accommodate your roster limits. Once a player is sent back, they may be dropped back into the farm system or kept on the active roster. Farm players brought up to the big leagues in September do not need to be promoted to active roster.
You MUST draft 5 minor league players to fill the minor league portion of your lineup.
Entry per person: $50.00. Money must be received by announced date or the prospective owner may be replaced.
The Trading System:
Trade Deadline is sometime in mid to late August. Official date to announced.
Trade vetoes should be a rare occurrence, used in only instances of collusion. Collusion of any kind will not be tolerated. All trades are to be transparent and each trading partner should be prepared to defend their thinking on those, hopefully, rare occasions that it is questioned by the commish.
After the all-star break, a team will only be allowed to trade with a team that is within 3 spots (up or down) of themselves in the standings, this leads to teams not being able to throw their players away at the end of the year, upsetting the competitive balance. For example, a team in fifth place during any scoring period may only trade with another team that is in 4th, 3rd, and 2nd place or 6th, 7th, and 8th place. First place may only trade with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place and last place may trade with 13th, 12th, and 11th.
These amounts are tentative:
All payouts will be received within two weeks of the end of regular season play.
