What actually defines a line drive?? Is it the angle at which the ball leaves the bat?? The ball speed?? Or is it just a hard hit that anyone can see for themself. If anyone can shed any light on this please do so. Thanks guys!!

Right now it's a judgement call by the spotters at the game. There's clearly some difficulties in defining it, as there was one year where the number of LDs suddenly spiked upward, maybe because of some internal change in instructions from Baseball Info Solutions.
"I don't want to play golf. When I hit a ball, I want someone else to chase it."

One year they added Fliners which would have changed LD%. A fliner is a ball that isn't obviously a flyball or obviously a line drive but is somewhere in between.
