Kazmir headed for MRI
The News
Scott Kazmir will undergo an MRI on his left elbow after feeling what TampaBay.com described, "felt like a hyperextension" while warming up for Tuesday's intrasquad game. Kazmir told the paper he was confident it was not a serious injury. "It was just a little scary because I never felt it before,' Kazmir said. "But after I talked with (head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield) and everything and we did some of the strength tests I felt confident it would be all right. Just got to check it out just to make sure."

i found this on tq stats. I just posted him as my keeper last night. I knew this would happen.

Wasn't there a lot of hubbub when he came up about his frame or his mechanics or something making him more susceptible to injury?

"the Rays got some good news regarding the condition of Scott Kazmir's elbow. The lefty, who felt pain in the elbow while warming up before an intrasquad game Monday, has avoided a serious injury but will have to rest for about two weeks, according to the St. Petersburg Times. That makes it unlikely that Kazmir would be ready by opening day. "It was just a little scary because I never felt it before," Kazmir said. "But after I talked with (head athletic trainer Ron Porterfield) and everything and we did some of the strength tests, I felt confident it would be all right."

"Scott Kazmir told the Tampa Tribune that he expects to make the start on opening day for the Rays despite his strained left elbow. "That's what we're shooting for," he said. The lefty said that the medical staff agreed with him that opening day is a realistic target."

Any updates on Kaz? Any thoughts on how far he'll drop? I loved him as a possible 5th-6th round swing pick, but now I think there will be much safer options there.

i'm still keeping him in my keeper league. doesn't sound serious he should be good to go. Is an injury risk just like any other pitcher maybe more due to history and mechanics. If i would let him go i wouldn't get him back so i'm holding out faith he'll be fine
