Say whatever you want. The Cubs just got better, ALOT better. They still have payroll flexibility to make a midseason trade, Juan Cruz is now expendible, and we have the most knowledgeable national league pitching mind in the world on our team.
only 3 years? i wished we'd signed him for 5.

$8 million a year....I like the move....not only is he still a quality pitcher...but the ability to pass his knowledge on to Wood, Prior and Zambrano...that in itself could be worth it.....

I am not sure I would go that far though.....

Here are some of the interesting clauses in maddux's contract:
- He never has to room with one of those young "whippersnappers" in spring training or on the road.
- When he comes to bat they will not play any of that "rock & roll crap!"
- The temperature in the clubhouse will be turned up because it's "too darn cold" in there.
- The team will send a driver to pick him up for every game at his "assisted living" complex.
- All his prescriptions will be paid for and the trainer will keep them in a little plastic container with the days of the week written on it so he remembers to take his pills.
- He gets to take a break during spring training at 12:00 to watch Matlock.
