I wouldn't draft him with a 10 foot poll, but keep an eye on each and everyone of his starts. If he's able to string together a couple of starts in which he's able to stay composed and not walk a mass amount of batters, he may be worth a pick up.

actually, I think you want to pick him up BEFORE the good starts b/c he will be due to get lit up shortly thereafter....

Another resounding no. Mazzone couldn't crack him, and I don't think that anyone will.

i remember the community debating who was better a couple years ago.... erik Bedard or Cabrera and alot more people picked Cabrera...

my how times changed. i remember saying Cabrera will never get control of his pitches and he overthrows alot. alot of guys never figure out how to control their stuff ala Colt Griffen (ring a bell?)

stay away from Cabrera his role should be in the pen if anything imo.

Yeah, I remember when Daniel Cabrera seemed to be everyone's favorite pet target. In hindsight, I believe a good deal of folks thought Bedard was a bit too injury prone for their blood and believed D-Cab's ceiling was slightly higher, but that was sort of nitpicking because both were later mid-round to late round picks in 2006 anyway.

D-Cab's potential is quite good, but his command is just so out of whack. I'd keep him on my watch list though if he can improve, mainly to lower that walk rate while posting the healthy K/IP most have hoped for.

Daniel Cabrera is a roto killer. It doesn't matter if he had two good outings in a row, the damage he will do to your stats if you pick him up is pretty much irreversible, it will have you wishing you gone watch Sex and the City reruns instead of checking Box Scores.

Mazzone is the most overrated pitching coach ever. Reason why he was fired after only 2 yrs in Baltimore.

I think the real issue here is he plays on a bad team so even if he does put it together it isn't such a huge deal to own him. LIke last year I took Perez because he was on the Mets and figured if he does get his control improved he'd be pretty valuable. If Perez had still been a pirate I'd have passed on him.
