I think the commish in my league has gone mad

We had a 7x7 league last year with

H,R,RBI,HR,ST,AVG,BB
W,L,CG,SV,K,ERA,WHIP

A couple of us suggested that instead of having H or AVG and BB to incorporate it into OBP or something along those lines and just to eliminate the loss category for pitching and make it a 6x6.

He comes back a week later and wants to totally change things around. He wants to eliminate all those categories and go with these stats.

A,E,Fielding %,OBP,NSB,CYC,PA,OFA,CI

Now I consider myself up to date on most stats but what is NSB? Is OFA-Outfielder assists? Also what's CYC?

Now for pitching he has
IBB,WP,BLK,PC,3BA,PICK,NH,IRA,QS

I know a few of those stats but the bottom line with me and I would like your advice. is it even worth participating in this league with these categories. He says that fantasy baseball is boring and this will generate more excitement. I think he's full of crap. I mean I can participate in any other league but this one doesn't seem worth my time.

CYC is Hitting for the Cycle. I'm not sure about the others.

But if your Commish finds Fantasy Baseball boring, he probably shouldnt be commish.

Sounds like your commish has let the power he has amassed as 'Almighty Fantasy Baseball League Commissioner' go to his head. Instead of being an adult and telling you and the others, "Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'm going keep things the same" he has chosen to take the low road and totally revamp your league with mostly useless and silly stats, just to show you who's boss. Judging by his reaction, I'm guessing your suggestion really hurt his ego. You and the other suggesters* would probably be better off finding another, or, starting your own league.

well with cats like those it would be hard to find/make good rankings and stuff to use at the draft. and yeah that just wouldn't be fun with those. but do what u want

Any commish that has a league with hits and avg is not that good to begin with. If you want a traditional league obviously this is not for you. If you would be interested in something outside the box that even marginally measures a players true worth than this is still not for you. Could be an interesting starting point for a crazy quirky league based mostly on finding interesting players that produce well in odd and rare categories. If that does not interst you then of course it is not worth your time.

NSB is net stolen bases. Actually a good category in my opinion.

Your commish is clearly screwing with you. You've got 2-3 weeks before the draft and he's just messing with everyone since there's nothing to do.
