The last baseball video game I bought was MVP 2005 for regular X-Box. Reason being, I went into severe depression when EA stopped making this game.
I have not even played another baseball title since. For those of you who loved MVP...does any game out there stack up? I love the gameplay (the swing control in MVP was awesome), but I also really dig games with great franchise/dynasty modes.
Is MLB 2k8 the only game on the market (I've got 360 and Wii, as well as my old X-Box at my dorm room)? Is it worth spending $60 bucks or should I just keep playing MVP on my regular X-Box...which is still a lot of fun but it sucks trying to manually update the rosters.
I found MLB 2k7 to be a very decent game, but gameplay issues kind of ruined it for me. Stupid things would happen that would really cause me to lose interest in it. The franchise mode was also kind of broken. The game was stunning looking, graphics wise, and has amazing animations. Gameplay was it's only problem. Supposedly the gameplay in 2k8 is completely reworked though, so it should be a very good game. I'm looking forwards to it. You might want to check out some videos on it.
The last baseball game I bought, and still play is also MVP Baseball 2005 for the PC. It was a great game...EA didn't voluntarily stop making baseball games...just another company got exclusive rights to MLB, like EA has exclusive rights to the NFL.
The hitter's eye was a GREAT feature. But now I have PS3, and will probably buy 2k8...
Will always help in return (leave a link to your question in response)
Sammy Sosa baseball for the PS2 was awesome, with all the old school stadiums and such.
But I am not doubt picking up MLB 2k8 on Tuesday.
They have leagues, and I actually have an idea of having an all cafe league. Or maybe a tournament we can see how many people on here actually get the game.
Here's an interesting article about EA possibly buying 2K Sports.
If that happens, I sincerely hope they try and adapt MVP Baseball to next gen, instead of working from the MLB 2K8 engine. I think MVP 05 is pretty much the consensus choice for best baseball game, so hopefully they will recognize that. They can completely trash MLB 2K8 for all I care.

Since I have a 360 i'll be buying 2k8 no matter what as well. I just have to get a next-gen baseball game this year. I'd join a league.

That's what I thought last year until I bought 2K7. After playing half a season, I realized I should have waited for a good baseball game to come out.
Not that it was terrible but the fielding was bad enough to pretty much ruin it for me. I won't bother with 2K again unless they make major changes to the fielding. Hopefully, The Show will be better in that regard. Even then, I'm still gonna wait until I play it or read some reviews before I buy it. Impulse buying has gotten me a few games that really weren't worth it.
