Biggest impact this year Colby Rasmus or Jay Bruce?

Postby Chiefscards » Sun Feb 24, 2008 2:14 am

Just wondering who you guys think will be the bigger fantasy option this season. Only reason I can think of for Rasmus is the fact that Baker dosen't have the patience for young players, and LaRussa has very few options. Anyone else?

Presuming Rasmus gets full playing time, as does Jay Bruce, I think Rasmus will have the better season. His strikeouts are going to hurt him more in the bigs than they did in the minors. Ultimately, I don't think Rasmus will outperform Bruce, but for the 2008 season, I like Rasmus more than Bruce.

Rasmus for this season, but Bruce, slightly, from 2009 on.

I think they'll both start in the minors this season, but both will be called up. With that the case, I'll take Bruce. His bat is more ML ready than Rasmus. While I agree Baker isn't a young player's best friend, Dusty does understand some amazing kids come along and can play right away - ie. Griffey. Speaking of Junior, he is liable to go down any time he takes the field, so Jay might be up in Cinti faster than most think.
