I was thinking of doing the scoring like this to avoid ties.
Hits, HRs, RBIs, SB, BBs, AVG x Wins, Saves, Ks, ERA, WHiP
How does this sound. Or are ties not that big of a deal with a season this long.

you may still have ties. I am a little confused by the question. I am assuming you are talking H2H, if this is the case then, you are playing head to head per category, so each week in this proposed league would have a combined total of 11 wins/losses/ties.
It doesn't count 6 cats to 5 cats but each cat is individual game in itself.

It is H2H. You don't just beat your opponent each week? You play a "series" of 11 games?

I would not have hit and average as two offensive categories. Our league did this and the vast majority of the time the team that won hits also won average.

You are going to play an opponent each week. How ever, each week is going to be scored as if it were broken down into 11 different wins or losses.
Each category will represent a win or a loss.
For instance team A finishes the week with 10 HRs, 4 wins and 2 saves.
Team B finishes the week with 11 hrs, 6 wins and 4 saves.
Team A's record after week one will be 1-2-0
Team B's record after week one will be 2-1-0
Each win representing a win in the individual category.

You're playing over the course of a season. In real baseball, you have tie series. It's the record at the end of the year that counts. I'd use 5X5 and not worry about it.

in a points league, how do you make the categories so that batters and pitchers are even? is that a 5x5? what batting categories and what pitching categories should be used to balance pitching and batting
