I'm in a 10 team, non-keeper league and have the number 5 overall pick. There is a slight weighting toward pitching and the offensive categories include the traditional 5 plus OBP and TB. My dilemma resides between Schilling, Pedro, and Bonds. I think 2 of the 3 will be available at my pick and can't decide who to take. Should I take a pitcher, and if so, which one, or try to dominate the avg. and obp cats with Bonds? Help
I think you got to take Bonds. He is so ahead of the rest when stats like Walks, OPS, and OBP count in a league. If it's traditional with OBP and TB, doesn't that make the hitting categories more important anyways? Why take a Pedro or Schilling in a hitting oriented league?

If your league is weighed towards pitching I go with Pedro 1st then Schilling if Pedro is gone.I disagree with above in that this year I think Bonds will not put up stats of the last two years and the gap in the next group of OFs is closing.
How, exactly, is there a weighting towards pitching? It's hard to answer without knowing the details.
Bonds OBP is so much better than everyone else that I think you should take him. Bonds' value skyrockets in any system that takes walks into consideration in any way. Check out the top five MLB OBP last year:
Bonds will dominate in OBP, but not necessarily in total bases. When you walk as much as he does, you don't rack up any bases while other studs are getting a chance to hit.
It's close, but I would take Pedro in a pitching-weighted league. He has been injured in the past, but he was hurting at the beginning of 2002 and still finished 20-4. He doesn't seem to be hurting now!
