While I'm not expecting much considering that he blows against RHP, I'll be keeping an eye on Chris Snyder of the DBacks after he went bonkers following the break last year: .292/.396/.503. Only 162 AB's involved in that total, however. Shandler and Co. note that there could be some power upside and project 19 HR in just 394 AB. Snyder had most of the AB's in Arizona at the end of last year and Montero suffered a broken finger during the winter so there could be some more at-bats for Snyder going foward. Interesting speculation in two catcher leagues.

First, Towles brings a "sexy" element to the table: SBs. Russell Martin might be the only guy out there that can pitch in on the SB category. That's pretty sexy to people.
But the next obvious one is that he has some hype. People like prospects. People want to get the next hot thing out on the market.
Plus, they are probably worried about Ramon's season last year where he wasn't all that. It's like picking whether you want an option that's has limited upside versus a catcher with high upside as well as bringing a unique element to the table.

Upside is the main reason, which Ramon is lacking. If you draft Towles late and he doesn't work out, there are 10 catchers that can put up Ramon's line.

10 other ones after Towles on the WW most likely? That's pretty harsh for Ramon unless you think Ramon will absolutely suck this year..

Yeah I would even take guys like Suzuki and Ruiz over Ramon too.

Soto is going to get you what, maybe like 14 HR, 1 SB and 50 R/50 RBI assuming he doesn't just tank.
Towles will get you like 8 HR, 7 SB with 50 R, 50 RBI.
You can get Ruiz like 6 rounds later, he has less downside and probably realistically has the same upside since this is his 2nd full year and you expect improvement.
with seeing ruiz play every day and how much i hate him, i recently thought of this thread.
That's weird, just yesterday I was talking about how it was funny that Towles and Soto were the two big new catchers coming into the year and how Soto has taken off while Towles has fallen flat. What a difference picking the other side of the 50/50 could have been for some fantasy teams.
