H2H help

I don't know about most people here, but for some reason I just can't do well in H2H leagues. I am fine with roto. But for some reason a good roto team doesn't do well in H2H in my experience.

Here is an example of a league. 20 team, standard 5x5 cats, 20IP min. Would it be a good idea to attempt to focus on saves with era/whip on the pitching side? And possibly try to get good leadoff men for a run at SBs, AVG, Rs on the hitting side? With a low IP limit would 2 or 3 good starters and a few good relievers be best?

I've tried different ideas to not much avail. Teams I would think would not contend, with middle of the raod talents at all the positions seem to dominate. There seems to be some type of mindset I am just not grasping.

I've read draft hitters the first 8 to 9 rounds, then try to get pitching.

Any ideas, or articles to read, would be greatly appreciated

With 20 teams, most won't be able to fill out the usual 2 RP slots with guys who get saves, I'd write it off immediately, maybe get two really bottom of the barrel guys and try being a shark on the wire.

Do not punt anything intentionally and grab players who qualify at multiple positions (trust me on this one).

Also, don't focus so much on AVG but do focus on guys that get you power/speed. Pay a premium if you have to. Finally, grab players who are not as risky health wise. It will be very difficult to replace too many injured guys in a league that size and stay competitive.

I've only played in a H2H once but happened to win it by playing the pitcher churn game. Yeah I took my lumps with ERA and WHIP but you had to be very active to compete with me on wins and Ks while 3 top notch closers were usually enough to take the saves category which allowed me to keep an extra bench spot open to grab a starting pitcher in a favorable matchup days in advance before other players were looking ahead.

It was also nice having specialist guys like Figgins and Pierre who could rack up plenty of steals every week and Victor Martinez as my catcher.

Go heavy on power, and if your not limited in the number of starts you can make, pick up alot of sp and 2 start pitchers to help wins and k's
