My league currently counts: R, AVG, 1B, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, K, BB, OPS, SB 11 hitting W, K, K/9, K/BB, ERA, WHIP, BB, SV, CG, SHO 10 pitching
We have agreed to drop CG and SHO in favor of QS which gives us 11 hitting and 9 pitching. HLD was suggested but I really don't like holds. We would like to balance out the hitting a pitching. I would love to get rid of 1B and BB. What do yall think?
EDIT: I had AVG twice and left off SB.

For hitting: The first problem is counting AVG twice. If it is another rate stat like OBP/SLG, I would remove it as you already have OPS. I'd also want to get rid of 1B as well, but I actually like BB. I think 11x10 is just too many categories, so I'd try and remove some of the individual statistics for something like TB.
For pitching: I also see a bit of redundancy in the pitching categories - you have K, K/BB, K/9, and BB. If you have K and BB, why have K/BB? I'd also get rid of the CG and SHO - they happen too infrequently to make it a meaningful category. If you really want to increase you number of categories, maybe look to adding Losses as well as QS (which you already mentioned).
FPCT is a nice twist to the usual offense categories and makes the fantasy game a bit closer to reality.
I love HOLDS as a pitching category, since it opens up an entire range of players normally ignored. It's also a very dynamic category where monitoring the waiver wire in-season is more important than draft day picks, giving you more of a chance to really manage your team.
HR Allowed is a good negative pitching category that gives a risk/reward element to start/bench decisions in H2H. Just another one to think about.

The thing with a stat like fielding %...what fun is it when 1st place comes in at .993 and 12th place is at .988?
There's some strategy involved with positions. 1B's have the best FPCT, so putting an extra 1B in your UTIL spot helps your team FPCT. Also, using DH's like Ortiz and Hafner in your 1B spot hurts, since you don't get all of those easy putouts to boost your FPCT.
There's also quite a bit of variation in FPCT at 2B, 3B and SS. I use it more as a tiebreaker in player rankings instead of focusing on just that stat.
I think FPCT is a good category for leagues with a lot of categories, say 16 or more, but not for 6x6 or similar leagues.
