Hey Fellas, Looking for some expert advice. I am in a very deep league with minor league rosters. Most 2008 top draft prospects are taken, along with top japanese players that might be coming over in the next couple of years. I am looking for the cream of the crop prospects that will be eligible for the 2009 draft. Is there a consesus number 1 pick for that draft yet? Top 3 maybe? Thanks in advance.
Some college guys to keep an eye on (I'll try to get their position and school right but I might have a couple little errors, nonetheless: Stephen Strasburg, RHP, SDSU Alex White, RHP, UNC Kyle Gibson, RHP, MIZ Andy Oliver, LHP, OK St Gavin Brooks, LHP, UCLA Mike Minor, LHP, VANDY (can we see three straight #1s from one school?) Dustin Ackley, 1B, UNC Robert Stock, RHP/C, USC Jared Mitchell, OF, CLEM
Beckham is on a team already along with most of the top 2008 draft prospects. i'm really looking to get 1, maybe 2 of the guys from the 2009 draft. Who, in your opinion, are the can't miss, future mlb all stars from this draft class? maybe top hitter and top pitcher. who should go number 1 in the draft?
BA just had a free Q and A and they addressed this
No, it's never too early to ask about a draft. Sixteen months before the 2009 draft, here's how we project the first five picks:
1. Kyle Gibson, rhp, Missouri Already has good stuff and will get better because his command and projectability are excellent. 2. Alex White, rhp, North Carolina Needs to add some more polish but he has a heavy fastball, plus slider and two years to improve. 3. Stephen Strasburg, rhp, San Diego State New England Collegiate League's No. 1 prospect last summer has strong frame, strong fastball. 4. Matt Graham, rhp, Oak Ridge HS (Conroe, Texas) Shows good fastball, curveball and command in a classic 6-foot-3, 195-pound package. 5. Mychal Givens, ss/rhp, Plant HS, Tampa Next year's version of Tim Beckham also shows a plus fastball off the mound.
In my fridge: Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS), Central Waters Peruvian Morning, Bell's Batch 10,000, Dale's Pale Ale, Capital Brewery Amber, New Glarus Moon Man, and Guinness.

Jared Mitchell is at LSU and I think he might be on the path to the NFL instead of the the '09 draft. He struggled last year hitting a .689 OPS, but maybe if he plays better this year he'll consider pro baseball.
I've heard a lot of good stuff about Kyle Gibson. That would be a good pick for the original poster.
