In a WSCR interview on Feb. 20, Ryan Theriot talked about the goings-on in spring training and his thoughts about last season and this season. He was insistent about not being confused with ChC's second base role -- he's the shortstop. Further, though, he talked about how he's really been working on his running and stolen base starts and footwork for the past few days.
The kicker is that he is disappointed in the SB's he was able to get in 2007. He could have and should have stolen several more, and he even remembers and is motivated now by the times he should have pulled the trigger but didn't. He said that stealing 40-50 bases last year would have really helped the Cubs more, and implied that that's what he's working on for this year. Just a heads up on what he's working on!
