Deep Deep Sleepers

Postby jdub131313 » Thu Feb 21, 2008 2:18 pm

I am in an extremely deep keeper league (16 teams, 7x7 categories, 20ish rounds of drafting after 10 keepers). With a league like that, finding those "diamonds in the rough" are key to a succesful fantasy season. My league is currently in the 15th round a the draft and I am running out of ideas for who to draft. So here is my question for all those who are interested in answering it:

Who are the best of the best fantasy players going in the 15-20th round of drafts (somewhere around the 250-300the picks)? My last three picks have been: Kyle Kendrick, Casey Blake, and Mike Jacobs.

Daric Barton, Josh Willingham, Ubaldo Jiminez, Yunel Escobar, Aaron Hill, Luke Scott, Adam Loewen, Kevin Correia, Mike Lamb, Chris Duncan, Carlos Villanueva, Justin Duescher, Willy Mo Pena, Austin Kearns, Brian Bannister, Ryan Church, Andy Sonnsatine, Felix Pie, Jason Schmidt. Just some names to put out there. These guys usually go really late or undrafted.

most of these guys except maybe McPherson and Rasmus are sleepers, but not deep sleepers. In other words, all of them should get drafted in a 12 team league, so that makes me question how deep of a sleeper that would make them for a 16 team league. What i'm trying to say that is in a 16 team league, those guys would all get drafted when there's still a lot of rounds left to be drafted, making these sleepers a little bit less sleep-ish.

I have Kevin Correia on my deep, deep sleeper list. He might not wow you, but I don't think he'll hurt any of your ratios and he'll accumulate his fair share of Ks. Plus he has a favorable park. If he was on a team who could provide better run support I would be more bullish on him.

You want deep, Jon Garland.

Hes going undrafted thats a start.

If you think about it he moved to a better more spacious park suited for pitchers and that division compared to the AL Central is nowhere as good offensively; and hes on a very good team.

I have got to believe his numbers improve, dare I say his era is in the 3s. :-X

On the Angels he should almost be a guarantee for at least 12 wins, probably more though.

Other Name:

George Sherrill - So far, reports are he is the Orioles closer, and he is going undrafted or taken in last couple rds.

I agree with Justin Duchscherer. Also, don't let Heath Bell get away. He'll be closing for San Diego before the season is over.

Here's a few with barely any commentary:

D Train Willis
Scott Olsen
Ian Kennedy

Wily Mo Pena
Yunel Escobar (May give top-12 round value)
Kelly Johnson
My Friendliness bar...recently shrunk from 11.3 to 10mm long!!
