I was already planning on replacing Bard with another SP prospect (possibly Jordan Tata), unless someone could convince me otherwise. Now, I have the opportunity to claim Wes Hodges (http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/H/wes-hodges.shtml) with my #10 waiver priority and store him on my farm club. As you can see, I need some help at 3B, and I have a feeling Hodges could help to provide some future assistance.

Charlton Jimerson (http://thebaseballcube.com/players/J/Charlton-Jimerson.shtml) has talent, as evidenced by his .292 BA, 25 HR, 80 RBI, 61 R, 35 SB splits between AA and AAA last year. Only problem is he is 29 years old and he plays in a crowded Mariners outfield that has Raul Ibanez, Ichiro, Wilkerson, Jeremy Reed, and Wladamir Balentien, even after having Adam Jones shipped out of town. The way things are looking, he might not get a chance to earn a starting job until he is nearing 31 years old.

Now, time for my questions:
1) Do you think Wes Hodges is worth all the hype?
2) Do you think he is worth using my #10 waiver priority to drop him?
3) Who would you drop on my farm to make room for him? (Jimerson?)

1) What hype? Not top 100 on Sickles, or Keith Law (questionable list I know), not top 50 on MiLB, or on any BA writer's list. His highest placement on a top 100 (that I have seen) list is 78 by Goldstein at BP. That said, I think he is a decent 3B prospect.

2) Depends on the history of your leagues use of waiver priority slots. Considering your minor league roster, I might think so.

3) I have Jimerson, Bard, and Colvin lower on my list, with Colvin only slightly lower and Jimerson and Bard significantly lower. People will probably disagree with me and say Colvin is better though.
