I picked him up off waivers in 2005, and benefited greatly from that. I then wasted a draftpick on him in 2006, and 2007 (guess I just don't learn. Lol.). I wouldn't take the gamble here, unless its a real low draft pick. Until he shows he is actually back, hes not worth it. Hes been a real big disappointment the last two years. JMO, of course.

Well, I do think he is worth consideration. He played in a terrible rotation in 2005 and put up some of the best #'s in MLB that year. The issue is this guy's injuries. This is a 30 year old guy with a very long injury history, and he will be pitching in a smaller ballpark this year. So you gotta weigh that against his impressive 05 numbers and very good '06 numbers. I think he's a guy that you could definitely take a chance on in a deep league, and in a standard 12 team league he might be worth a late round flyer if you've don't have other pitchers with serious health concerns.

I fail to see how four guys sitting in the dugout during Patterson's starts will impact his fantasy value. That being said, I'm taking a wait and see approach. I liked him last year, but won't be drafting in this year. If he gets off to a good start I'll grab him if he's a free agent. If someone else in the league wants to draft him, I'd let them roll the dice and not feel too badly about it.
