If Ortiz is 1B-eligible:
Ortiz
Howard
Fielder

If Ortiz is not 1B-eligible:
Howard
Fielder
Ortiz

I fully expect Howard to hit .280 or under most seasons, he just K's way too much. Fielder will be a .300 hitter eventually in my opinion, this kid can really hit and not just for power.

For this year I'd take them Howard, Fielder, Ortiz. I love Fielder but I just think Howard is more of a sure thing.

Prince
Howard
Ortiz (still maybe 1st round guy)

Ortiz started 7 games at 1B... he's 1B eligible in most leagues. In a redraft, Ortiz is the best bet of these three guys I think. Prince could be great, but I'd like to see him do it over a longer stretch before I take him in the first. Howard obviously is a great bet for 40-120, but probably about a .280 average. I understand about Papi's knee, but he had a great year with it clearly bothering him last year, and now it should have been fixed by the surgery. I can see his power returning and him batting .300+. I think he's the best play by a decent margin. I'd go:

Papi
Prince
Howard

Howard
Fielder
Ortiz

There is a pretty good debate on Fielder vs. Howard on ESPN in their "Heaters" sections.
Basically the knock on Howard is his K's and contact rate...the knock on Fielder is his poor physical condition, which isn't going to get any better.

My league uses on base %, so Howard helps me more...but it is very close...

My league counts K's as a category making Howard poison to your team.

Fielder
Ortiz
Howard

He is a monster in every other way with a little concern on Avg. But i had him last year and finished last in K's mostly due to his 190+ K's.

Does everyone still think Pujols is # 1 in a keeper? If he were to have the surgery, you'd still pick him over Prince/Howard knowing you might not get much out of him this year?

Assuming it's a first time draft and he still goes in the 5-10 range, I wouldn't draft Pujols in a keeper either, doesn't make any sense not to go for the win in the first year when you don't know where you stand yet.

If you know for sure he is going to have the surgery then no, you don't take him ahead of Prince and the gang.

Ryan Howard is my easy #1 choice. Not that I'm not high on the other two, I just think he's that good. Then I'd go Fielder and then Papi, for both keeper and redraft purposes.
