Carlos Beltran doesn't expect to play in the first few exhibition games next month as he continues his recovery from knee surgeries.

"I’m not where I want to be," Beltran said. "The test won’t come until I run the bases." He expects to be fine for Opening Day.


Say what?? He has had months to rehab from knee surgery but he is not ready for Spring Training. Is this a huge red flag??

I wouldn't look into it too much, he still has over a month until the season begins, and even missing a couple games to start off this season is not that terrible. His value shouldn't drop at all.

2/25: Carlos Beltran is suffering from bruised left triceps this morning courtesy of a Johan Santana fastball. The Mets' center fielder was hit by his new teammate during live batting practice on Sunday afternoon. Beltran told Newsday.com he would be fine, but the bruise was pretty nasty. Beltran, who is slowly recovering from offseason surgery on both knees, will not take part in today's (Monday) intrasquad scrimmage and seems to be a while away from playing games; most of the caution surrounding Beltran is due to his knee ailments.

Doesn't sound like he's going to be 100% by the start of the season to me at all.
