Ryan Doumit?

What will Ryan Doumit's role on the pirates be. When he first started playing he was tearing things up than started to cool down toward the end of the season, but I am hoping in his third year and consistent playing time he will produce better numbers.

There's not much to look for in the Pirate lineup besides Jason Bay IMO.

depending on how deep your league is, i like doumit, especially because he has C eligibility...his role is unclear however..some C appearances and a possible OF platoon w/nady and an occasional sighting at 1B

In my 20 team league I draft Doumit late as my catcher. I just hope he gets enough at bats..C-OF-1B..to just be able to sit in my catcher slot all season long. That is if he does not get hurt. He seems to have a habit of that!!

Hard to say at this point. JMO, here, but I think he will not be worth drafting, unless you are in a very deep league, as is the case with Bryan. But he is definitely worth keeping an eye on, as long as he has catcher elligibility, which he should have in most leagues this year. He had a decent average last year, which is all I look for out of my catcher. Since I don't believe its worth spending a high draftpick on a catcher, I will look to pick up a decent catcher later in the draft - one of them underrated catchers - and if I am unable to do that, or if that catcher just doesn't do good, I might just pick up Doumit off waivers. I don't care if he hits full time, as long as he keeps his average up. Of course this strategy falls apart if he gets himself injured again.

That catcher eligibility makes him someone to watch. If he can get 350 at bats I'll take him over a lot of other full-time catchers.
Let's go Mets!
