Manager John McLaren said Thursday that Jeff Clement will only make the team as an everyday player, suggesting that he's likely to begin the season back at Triple-A.

With Kenji Johjima starting at catcher and Jose Vidro still around at designated hitter, Clement has little shot of cracking the Opening Day roster. "We won't carry Jeff Clement as an extra catcher," McLaren said. "If we carry him, it's got to be as an everyday player. With his talent, there's too high a ceiling for him. He needs to play."

Interesting. What has Jose Vidro done lately? Maybe he is like Dusty Baker, who loves his vetrans. Beside Clement, they have a talent in Wladimir Balentien, who I've been noticing as well.
