ABs are difficult to get a real accurate projection on. For younger players or injury prone players you have to make a guess at playing time, you have to look at the spot in the lineup the player will probably hit in, how good the offense is around him, etc. If the player is fairly established (a couple full years in the majors) and there hasn't been any major change to his role on the team then using an average of their ABs over the last few years would work.
