Seems like there has been no hype on this guy. Throws mid 90s and his best pitch is a splitter. Keeps the ball on the ground and will be pitching in a pretty decent venue.

Any projections on this guy?

If he is like the other Japanese pitchers his ERA will be slightly higher with K's slightly lower than they were in Japan. Other than one year he was in the mid 3's in era and averages .7 K's in inning there. So you are looking at probably over a 4 ERA and 130 K's, if he is healthy the entire year and stays in the rotation.

My understanding is although all Japanese ballparks are small, his home park was considered a "bandbox" even by Japanese standards.

Sounds like reliever stuff. I honestly don't know much about the guy, and would be really hesistant to draft him unless it was a deeper league. Was he an elite pitcher in Japan similar to Dice-K?

Shandler has him at 145ip 9W 4.34ERA 1.35whip 6.1 k/9

I think he might be useful as a "matchup" pitcher in h2h

I actually expect the DOdgers to contend this year which should give Kuroda double digit wins imo.

I heard the Cubs were interested but LA is closer to Japan so he chose to play there.

He's worth a $1 flier. I won't go crazy though.
