A friend and I use Wordpress for our startup's blog. For a small fee, you can register your webpage with your blog so that readers can go straight to your webpage than your Wordpress address. I think it's best if you hosted it yourself and knew CSS/PHP if you'd like to customize a few things (i.e. skins, widgets).
I've been using Wordpress since version 0.9.8 or so (Before it was called Wordpress). I really recommend Wordpress if you decide to start a blog. The community around it is very good with all the plug-ins and themes for users who don't want to take the time and hassle to make an original design. You just need a host that supports PHP/MySQL (PHP should come with MySQL, but there are PHP hosts that don't support MySQL). Just download, upload to your host, and point your browser to the install address.
Works even better if you know your web design and PHP programming.
