I see that rototimes.com has Cody Ross listed as a starting outfielder for the Marlins. He put up some nice numbers in limited at bats last year, yet I've heard nothing about him. Does anyone see any value in this guy? Could he be nice late round pickup?
i like him but, of course, it depends on the depth of your league..the 27yo has hit double figure HRs every yr at various levels since 03..i don't think maybin is ready so he should get more than 173 ABs..last yr he hit 12 dingers in those 173 ABs and earned $11..in my 13 team NL only he went for $3 in 07 and i expect him to earn at least 3X that this yr but don't expect a .330 BA as his hit% was unnaturally high..maybe 13-50-4 .280..kinda like jwerth, rspilsborgh, mmurton
I am thinking Maybin is going to start in the minors...even so, I didn't think Cody Ross was more than a 4th or 5th OF? De Aza and Amezaga are CF, right? Hermida and Willingham are set at the corner OF...can either of them play CF? If so, Luis Gonzalez may play more than we think....

He started 28 games in CF last year, and I would think he'd be the frontrunner because De Aza and Amezaga absolutely suck. Obviously he won't keep his 1.00+ OPS for a whole year, but with his power he could have a .850ish OPS season. Not too shabby for someone who will cost you nothing even in deeper leagues.

They'd rather keep Amezaga on the bench as he can play 7 different positions. De Aza was pretty terrible when he came back from his injury last season, not even sure he'll make it to the team to start the season. CF is basically between Maybin and Ross as I see it.
I don't really know much about him, but I just picked him up. He's been hot lately, and I saw he posted an OPS on 1.064 in 66 games last year. He's got 36 career HRs in 584 ABs, so I figured he could be a nice source for power. Any Marlins fans have any thoughts on him?
