6 Young SP Studs

Postby HOOTIE » Fri Feb 08, 2008 7:41 pm

How do you rank these SP career wise? Are they all close? One way ahead? One way behind?

Felix/Lincecum/Cain/Gallardo/Billingsley/Hughes

1. Felix
2. Lincecum
3. Hughes
4. Cain
5. Gallardo
6. Bilingsley

I think Felix has the best chance at dominating.

1. Lincecum
2. Felix
3. Gallardo
4. Hughes
5. Billingsley
6. Cain

Lincecum appears to be in the perfect environment -- he's in a pitcher's park with little pressure as the team rebuilds. Felix has the best stuff, but will his inconsistency fade as he gets older? Gallardo is filthy and has Maddux to groom him. Hughes falls simply because of the Big Apple pressure (who was the last ace to start his career in pinstripes?). I like Billingsley, but the Dodgers are reluctant to give him a starting job. Cain will someday be a frings No. 1, but more likely a solid No. 2 -- but never an ace.
Is there anything fluffier than a cloud?
If there is, I don't want to know about it.

I honesly do not think Felix will last, he will be dominate for his first few years, but I see him being a Carlos Zambrano type pitcher.

But heres my rank:
Lincecum
Cain
Billingsley
Felix
Hughes

Gallardo

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.
