I've been to cockfights in mexico and didn't think much of it, especially in light of bullfighting. And this definitely can't be compared to Vick or dogfighting with the hanging, beating torturnig to toughen up and such. Brain size as it relates to cognitive ability is also an important factor to consider. Its the reason we think nothing of putting a live lobster in a boiling pot of water, but wouldnt do that with most other animals. There is a big leap from chickens to mammals.

This is not to say it would be unreasonable for many to find cockfighting very distasteful, but just that this shouldn't be that big of a deal in general

It is legal in Lousiana also. Roy Jones Jr. lives here in FL and has a bunch of them at his home. He flys to LA to fight them and then comes home

Meh he did this in DR where it is not illegal. Obviously it doesn't look good for him but I don't think Pedro really gives a crap.

I don't think it is a big deal.
