Is this based mostly on injury risk? If Ortiz plays his usual 150 games, then he posts numbers easily better than Miguel Cabrera, IMO.

I agree with both of you...his knee issues and other assorted ailments concern me, but how can you argue with a guy who while playing through pain put up ridiculous #'s that made him 8 overall in Yahoo?

One additional revolution around the sun which burdens the already higher gravitational forces acting on the excessive mass of this individual. The force acting on this large mass will create more friction at the already aching joints.

32 year old guy (assuming that the age is 100% accurate) who's overweight and coming off of a knee injury? Ortiz is a great player, probably the best clutch hitter I've ever seen. But this is fantasy, and I want somebody reliable with a top pick. So forget top 3, Ortiz isn't in my top 10 for that reason.
Bluto: Over? Did you say over? NOTHING is over until WE decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? HELL, NO!
Otter: Germans?
Boon: Forget it, he's rolling.

Of course his OPS+ is lower with RISP than without and his late and close isn't any different than when the team is within 3 runs. The only 'clutch' thing about Ortiz is he doesn't seem to try that hard when they have a 4+ run lead (88 OPS+ in those situations).

He has had some huge hits because he's a freakin great hitter but he is no more clutch than anyone else.
