Bruce or Longoria... Convince me!!

Ok, I posted earlier about having the number one pick in my inaugrual minor league draft. I got many responses to taking Jay Bruce. I don't know much about him, but from all the articles he's a complete stud. I like Longoria's upside of having played college ball and being a 3rd baseman since that is not a deep position currently. Can you convince me either way on one of these two players? What do you think the long term benefits of these two players?...Let me here your expert and non expert analysis...

I disagree that third isn't a deep position. There are probably ten third base prospects who will be on most Top 100 lists and at the big league level there are eight or nine solid options and a lot of guys after that that have good potential. Regardless, take Bruce. He's going to hit for more power and has more room to improve.

Thanks, for that advice. I meant currently in the Majors, fantasy leagues are not deep when it comes to that position. Not necessarily in prospects...Anyone else?

I think they are REAL close. I may lean slightly toward Longoria because I think he is a better overall hitter right now. Bruce has the better power potential but I think he has a little lower floor as well. Not a decision i would lose sleep over...definately can't go wrong either way.

I am a huge Longoria fan, but I like Bruce over him a little bit because he has a higher upside IMO

I think Bruce has a little more of a ceiling as well but cant go wrong with either.

Thats real tough cant go wrong with either one but with bruce being an outfielder you could find more of them out there. and longorias bat will be in the lineup quicker than bruce cincinnati is still loaded with outfielders even with dealing hamilton. (which i disagree with but thats just me)

Longoria has a much higher floor / lower risk of flaming out. He doesn't have the power potential of Bruce, that's for sure, but he'll hit for higher average. It depends on how much risk you're willing to take.

Most prospect hounds just want upside and potential.
