The Bergen Record reports that the Yankees are in hot pursuit of Greg Maddux. The Cubs, Cardinals, Dodgers, and Giants are also interested in Maddux, though the four-time Cy Young winner recently rejected an offer from the Giants.

The Cubs improved their offer to Greg Maddux yesterday, and the Giants may have dropped out of the bidding for the right-hander.
The Cubs are still offering a two-year deal, but the package now is probably worth $14 million-$15 million. They hope to have an answer before camp opens Wednesday. As for the Giants, they appear to be out of the running again now that Maddux has rejected their offer. A late bid from the Dodgers is still likely, but right now, it doesn't appear that anyone is going to give him a better deal than the Cubs have on the table.
