Barry Bonds should go to the Tribe

Postby The Cow » Fri Feb 01, 2008 2:31 am

Man that would make a lot of sense. The Tribe needs a power hitting LFer, Bonds is just that. Bonds would like to play for a contender, the Tribe is just that. With C.C. possibly leaving after this season the Tribe's window may be as short as this year. Makes sense to sign Bonds for a 1 year deal. Right now the Tribe has Dellucci and Michaels in left, I think Bonds would be a step in the right direction. The Tribe has been trying to deal for a LFer like Bay with no luck. Bonds will cost nothing, but money. Now I have never really liked Bonds, but I can see that he could really help this team fill a big need. Bonds to Oak is making less and less sense because they appear to rebuilding. Could be down to the Mariners, Pads and Tribe. Bonds may want to stay out west, so the Pads or I guess the A's would have the best shot.

I thought Bonds would be going to the AL to be DH though, and the Tribe already have Pronk. How competent a LFer is Bonds these days? (Plus, playing in the field puts extra stress on his already bum joints.)

Bonds to any AL team would be huge. He is still an elite hitter and could be the difference between a playoff/non-playoff team.
