Adding arod will give them maybe 2-3 wins more over the entire season, soriano is a great player, and i'de still take soriano and boone, albeit healthy, over arod and whatever bum they put at 2nd...
It sure is a good thing there are 4 other pitching catagories besides wins. Personally, Im not goona touch any of the Yankees SPs unless they somehow fall too far. I care too much about whip and era. But hey, maybe the move improves their defense, I mean, you cant get much worse than Soriano, so maybe they did upgrade their D too.
I seem to remember the Pirates' announcers saying when Lieber was with the team that in even-numbered years, he normally does really well and in odd-numbered years, he does poorly or gets hurt. Well, the Yanks have him now in 2004!!! Watch out!

JOE CREDE!!
i agree 110%
As for the yankees with arod, how much better is arod and say sojo at 2nd, then soriano and boone if he didn't hurt himself?
IMO, i think they are slower and probly not as good...but thats me...
But Boone IS hurt. Your point is moot, since you can't uninjure Boone and take the trade back. Sure you can say IF he wasn't hurt, but it makes no difference. Given Boone's injury, the team is better now simply because A-Rod is better than Soriano. And when Boone comes back, possibly around the 100 game mark I've heard, their infield will be much better with him at 2B especially defensively. Again its IF, so it doesn't matter.
Yes they are slower, but with their lineup I can't see Torre letting his baserunners run them out of innings just to move up a base when they have so much power throughout the lineup.

If I cared only about wins Id draft Pettitte.
Mussina had a very good WHIP and ERA last year, and he'll top that 17 wins I bet, with 200K. I understand Vazquez has pretty good WHIP and ERA totals too, and is a big strikeout guy. He'll win more than 15 (which I think he's never done before on a crappy montreal team...?) And I WOULD point out Kevin Brown, but a guy who's gonna miss a dozen starts isn't all that much help.

Agreed. Moose will be great, probably Vaz, too. But that many wins is insane.

Vazquez and Moose are sure-fire 20-game winners and Brown may sniff 20, too. Without ARod I think these guys were topping off no higher than 17. Look for Contreras to get 17 and Lieber maybe 15?
A Yankee SP is pure money. Lov'em or hat'em, this is fantasy baseball, boys.
Thoughts?
I will bet you a Andrew Jackson that NY doesn't have 2 20 game winners, and Lieber doesn't win 15?
