Nothing confirmed as of yet but Jones heading to Baltimore for a physical ...

Report: Mariners to acquire Bedard for Jones

Adam Jones is flying to Baltimore for a physical on Monday, suggesting the Orioles and Mariners have agreed to an Erik Bedard trade.

Jones said he's been told the deal is done, though he doesn't know who is going with him to Baltimore. Asked by the Seattle Times tonight, George Sherrill said he had heard nothing to suggest he's being included. Jan. 27 - 7:27 pm et

I'm curious to see which players are included in the deal. I'm sure we'll know soon enough.

Let the "was it the right thing to do" debates begin!

But this does bring up the question of who plays RF now? Brad Wilkerson comes to mind. He'd add a much needed LH bat to the lineup & can play 1B or RF. Since no one is biting on him hard from the sounds of it I'm sure SEA could get him on the cheap.

Other than him maybe a Shawn Green/Ryan Klesko type.

Actually, it sounds like the Red Sox may have made an offer to Wilkerson. There were reports that he was wanting something like 3/21...yeah right. I believe the Yankees and someone else were interested in Wilkerson as well. Although according to every rumor that is out there the Sox and yanks are involved somehow. I think Wilkerson will be a valuable addition wherever he is picked up. I would imagine if given an offer by the M's he would prefer to play there as he would probably be a starter...Boston is just looking to add a LH OF option.

How far up does this boost his value?

Still have

Peavy/Santana in the top tier, does this put Bedard up with Beckett, Webb in teir Two?

Great trade for the Mariners. I'll take an ace for a prospect any day. It could be an even better battle for the AL West crown this year.

I would say so. Even though it's really hard to distinguish between tiers for some of these guys I think it has to look something like this. I think, if he stays healthy, he can go for 16-18 wins in Seattle.

Peavy/Johan

Webb/CC/Bedard/Beckett/Verlander

Lackey/Kazmir/Hamels ... etc.

This has got to kill the Twins. Fresh off of the analysis that they were going to deal Johan in the next 10 days, setting the market as Adam Jones, unless there's other significant players not named, has to take the wind out of their sails.

Gives the M's a good chance in a weak division.
0-3 to 4-3. Worst choke in the history of baseball. Enough said.
