I've got Carpenter stashed in most my leagues. It wouldn't be impossible for them to use him at closer, considering their starting rotation is at least pretty decent. They already talked about using him out of the pen about a month ago (albeit because he had experienced a small setback). SP/RP Carpy? Probably not but I'm hoping.
Jul. 13 - 9:10 am et Takashi Saito will undergo an MRI Monday, the results of which won't be known until later in the week.
Saito came out of Saturday night's game with tightness in his right elbow. "It wasn't a stinging pain, but a strong tightness that got worse and worse. It was a good idea to quit," he said. Saito added that he felt the discomfort while warming up in the bullpen, but thought he could pitch through it. "Hopefully," said manager Joe Torre, "the news will be good. Hopefully, the fact that he let us know right away headed off any kind of damage."
Jul 12 RHP J.J. Putz threw on the side for the Mariners and seemed to feel no pain in his right elbow. So he will pitch for Peoria in the Arizona League Sunday and again Tuesday on an injury rehabilitation assignment, then will pitch Friday in Tacoma for the Class AAA Rainiers, at which point his progress will be evaluated.

No. The GM's already talking to reporters about who the next guy is gonna be. That's as good a sign as you're gonna get.
Though if he goes to Tampa, there's still a chance he'll close.
I am not so sure it is a 100%. If they lost him to FA they would get 2 first round picks as compensation. From what I have heard they are looking for a similar package from a team that wants him. The Rays may be out of the trade market for him because they want both Hellickson and Davis

You're right, I wouldn't say it's 100%. The Rockies could hold out for too much and end up letting him walk (assuming he declines arbitration). But the Rockies want to move him and other teams want to get him, and his own GM is already talking about his successor, so a move here is just about as likely as it gets in baseball. Nothing's ever truly certain.
I wouldn't count the Rays out, I think the Rockies are just starting high. The rumors about their demands of Philly were pretty 'out there', as well. They'll probably settle for less than they're asking now.
