BUT if he does well in the first half ofthe season in AAA, they will definately bring him up. Along with Cecil Fielders son. SUPPOSEDLY, they put all of the money they are gonna get from miller park into prospects, that is why they dont sign FA's. Fielder at first and Weeks at second is supposed to be the big combo in about four years.... but i also remember Pat Listash and Cal Eldred being stud rookies too.

in milwaukee, nobody is good. That is why it sux they traded sexson. if their ""stud"" rookies are really studs, having a good team has to be better than saying " okay we are gonna suck for the next ten year but after that we will ROCK"

I still would rather have Boone or Kent at this point. I do see where M.Giles could potentially lead the pack but I don't see it happening untill he knocks 30+ out.

Giles will still be the 4th or 5th 2B drfated in Kepper leagues, but you are probably getting the best guy at the position for the long term!

Last year, M Giles was the 22nd rated second baseman going into the season. I think he's getting fairly overrated (as are Berroa and Ensberg) due to one good season.
Someone in my Yahoo! league (20 teams) selected him in the 3rd round, which we all scoffed at. And while Giles turned out to produce a 2nd round pick's numbers, he still could have been picked in the 10th round and actually made that owner a profit last season. One good reason not to overdraft your sleepers. That's what the final three rounds of the draft are for.

Edit: I would pick Boone and Kent first in a keeper, though.

Gotta love this logic. M Giles is overrated due to one good season, but you'd rather have Reyes based on half a season. I am a Mets fan and a braves hater...and I will tell you, the only stat Reyes will ever outperform Giles in is SBs. And even that might not be as much as you think. Batting 2nd will limit his SB potential somewhat.
And BigL, I would pick Reyes over M Giles for the long run. Within two years, Giles will be putting up numbers that Boone puit up last year.

Hard to say who will be the #1 2B for 2005 if Soriano is moved to the OF. If Soriano did not qualify for 2B this year, then I'd have Kent ranked #1 at 2B going into this year.

Soriano should qualify this year, so this year will give guys like M. Giles, Reyes, Kaz Matsui, Mike Young, Reyes, Vidro, and maybe even Rickie Weeks a shot at stepping up or proving that they are the best choice for next year.

There is always the possibility that Soriano plays 2B and Mike Young gets shifted to SS and all of this would be a moot point though.

Should be a very interesting season. :-)
