We have five keepers and assign 12 yrs to each team. So you have an a,b,c,d,e player you can assign a year value to. Your player you sign to a 6 yr deal that means you are keeping him for 6 yrs. "B" gets 3 yrs, "C" gets 1,"D" gets 1 and "e" gets 1 for a total of 12 years. Now next year after the season is over that team will have 5 years to sign 3 new players as c,d and e go back into the draft. It creates turnover in the league while allowing teams to lock up premiere players for a good while. you dont have to spend all 12 yrs but the most you can ever use is 12 yrs.
