Mark Prior?

Prior was about as good they come back in his day, but as is the case with many pitchers, he has run out of bullets. There is no magical cure, his arm is shot...

I hope I'm wrong, because regardless of what Cubs fans may say, he is a decent guy who gave his all, but a pitcher's arm is fragile, and its shelf life more than often way too short...

Thing is with Prior, he's nopthing like Harden. He was around in ST last year and had lost all velocity, his stuff was totally gone and he would get tonked all over the place like about 8ER in 3IP. Even if he was healthy (which he never will be) he has lost his stuff. I'd rather take a Gio Gonzalez and hope he gets a shot for Oakland, or some other such prospect.

Prior is done. Toast.

When was the last time Prior was good even when he was healthy enough to walk to the mound? My personal view is that he is doner than done. Like even worse that Carl Pavano Done (and that's pretty done!). In terms of risk, Prior is not just as injury-prone as Wile E. Coyote but he also hasn't shown diddly in years. If you're gonna gamble on risky SP, I'd much rather gamble on guys who at least have continued to show good stuff when healthy (RJ, Pedro, Sheets, Harden, etc.).

Now that he's in Yahoo and his waiver period has passed, I think he may be worth a shot in deeper leagues. Chances are he's probably done, but those last few roster spots in deep leagues are for possible low risk-high upside guys and I think Prior fits the bill.

...Not too shabby to me. Think about what it would be like to start Prior IN PETCO after the all-star break. That is too good to pass up when the risk is simply dropping the guy who you are going to drop in the first week of EDIT: April anyway.

For example:
I dropped Conor Jackson for Prior and the ability to stash a possible 9+ k/9 player on the DL once the season starts. Once the season starts and a roster spot opens from Prior going on the DL I can then pick up the newest This-is-the-next-RyanBraun-guy out there in his place. There is practically no risk involved here when acquiring him in such a way.
