What Draft Pick Do I Take???

Postby ajgnydc722 » Sun Feb 15, 2004 11:11 am

I'm in an 8 team league with my friends and I won our league last year. The way we do things is that the person who wins gets first choice of what draft pick they want next season and they get to be commisioner. 2nd place gets second choice and so on. I was going to take 3rd pick where I'm certain I can get Pujols but now that all this A-Rod talk going on, I'm not sure if I should pass on the oppurtunity to take him 1st overall.

He is the obvious first overall pick anyways, but his move to the Bronx could skyrocket his RBI's and runs even more than they were last year (which is pretty mind-boggling) because of the Yankee lineup.

Should I take A-Rod who I can play on SS or 3B and who's value should be even higher in terms of trading and just overall factor on your team or should I stick with my original plan and take Pujols and get an outfielder like Manny, Beltran or Sheff in the 2nd round. If I take A-Rod it would be hard to say what I could get in the 2nd round....somewhere along the lines of Maggs or Sheff possibly.

What should I do?

Who do you guys think might be there for my pick?

On second thought the guys in my league just wing it without any preperation except for about 3 or 4. So half the league will be passing on some good guys which means for my 2nd and 3rd round back to back picks....

Nomar should definately be there. I was planning on taking him third round with the third overall pick so I'm almost positive I can grab him right there. Nomar on SS and ARod on 3B shapes up to be a sick infield and I would probably also grab and outfielder there....just don't know which one. If Sheff is there I'll take him but other than that what is a good pick....Maggs?

Vernon Wells will probably be there and I think he'll have a better season than Mags.

Get the first pick, take Arod, and then grab a studs like Sheffield/Nomar/or Schilling when the 16th-17th picks come back to you. ;-D

Since there are only 8 teams I dont believe there will be a lack of studs for a few rounds. Take the 1st pick and A-Rod.

There will come a day when Barry Bonds leaves baseball, and everything about the game will be the better for it.

yep, u gotta take the #1 and Arod but if it was a 14+ team league I would probably choose 3rd to 4th so u have a better shot at a premier player on the way back but in ur situation 1st is the correct pick.

Good post, I am in the same situation. I won my league and I get to pick which draft position I want, but I can't make up my mind either.
