The kid played well after call ups, is he projected to start next season? We're allowed to keep one rookie, and am wondering if I should keep him or try and trade for another one.

You need to check on this during spring training. But my understanding is that Barton and Dan Johnson will be seeing time at 1st in Oakland. Barton is the likely favorite to see more time than Johnson. But my real advice is to follow up and search for new developments...its a long time until the season starts.

imo Barton looks like another 1B with good average and OBS but little to no power.

more of then Conor Jackson mold imo.... nothing to write home about. it wouldnt surprise me the least if Chris Carter was their starting 1B in a couple years he projects to have alot more power and his average thus far for 2 seasons in the minors has been close to .300

Barton will be 22 for most of 2008. He has great batting eye and average. He had great doubles power, which may turn into some more homeruns as he ages(even if he doesn't develop more he will still have a 850-900 OPS). He will takeover first at some point this year, and won't relinquish it until Billy Beane trades him for prospects.
