This seems like the kinda movie that would be shown to Jr. sex ed classes to encourage abstinence.
"I do not think baseball of today is any better than it was 30 years ago... I still think Radbourne is the greatest of the pitchers." John Sullivan 1914-Old athletes never change.
First of all, this isn't just based off of an age-old myth conjured mainly to protect women from sexual violence, but it is also based off of the Japanese film Kiseichuu: kiraa pusshii (no translation necessary). I heard about this recently myself and it's a black comedy horror film that premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival. Reviews were generally positive, considering the film will never receive wide release and appeals to movie enthusiasts simply by crossing into subject matter that most people just aren't ready for.
Despite how gratuitous the film seems, I've heard it's barely more than a B-movie with an unorthodox premise. It would appeal to only the biggest movie geeks who have seen so many films, anything out of the ordinary would come across as brilliant. Plus every year at Sundance a film tries to be as talked about as possible and it's worth that at least considering the crap Hollywood churns out every month. Boy I can't wait for National Treasure 6: Lincoln's Fart In A Bottle, or whatever.
