when i got my passport this summer, even the expedited passports were taking 3 months

This was the first time getting my passport, but with proof I was traveling out of the country (a letter from my employer and an itinerary) mine was ready the following day. When I went to the gov't office it was dead.

The only thing I can suggest PP is to get the wheels in motion now.

it was in about march and they had a crazy huge flood of passport request at the time, seeing as summer was coming up, i imagine its quite different this time of hte year

when i got my passport this summer, even the expedited passports were taking 3 months, ended up having to use a 3rd party at http://www.americanpassport.com that uses its own lawyers to push it through super fast, got it almost overnight but it does cost a bit extra

i think it ended up being around $300 total

anybody know how long it will take for passport in CA w/o expediting it? or where to find such information?

nevermind, i found it. the official site says 4-6 weeks. http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/pr ... _1740.html

apparently, if you make an appointment at regional processing center and you are traveling in the next two weeks you can get it done on the spot. am i reading this correct? http://travel.state.gov/passport/about/ ... c_898.html
