Starting Lineups for 2011

Postby Third Day » Fri Dec 28, 2007 9:19 am

http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/pr ... op10/2007/

Found this while over at ESPN MLB. In the free section they have probable starting lineups for all teams in 2011.

Some interesting observations. They project that Ryan Braun will be the starting CF for the Brewers in 2011 and that Sheets will be with the team. :-?

I've looked at these things before, and I think that they don't include free agency or trading in their projections. So basically the only movement is retirement and call-ups.

Baseball prospectus started with the AL. Sickles has been doing his rankings randomly.

Here's a Red Sox one for you :-D ....obviously, anyone or any company that puts together a 2011 lineup is winging it.

LF Nick Swisher (FA in 2011 for low market team with high OBP)
CF Jacoby Ellsbury
RF JD Drew
3B Kevin Youkilis
SS Oscar Tejada (shares time with Lugo)
2B Dustin Pedroia
1B Lars Anderson
C Josh Bard (FA signing in 2010. Theo will be kicking himself about him until then)/George Kottaras
DH Big Papi is still hanging on

SP Josh Beckett
SP Johan Santana (guessing Lester, Masterson, Lowrie, Crisp trade gets done)
SP Clay Buchholz
SP Daisuke Matsuzaka
SP Michael Bowden or Nick Hagadone
CL Jon Papelbon
MR Manny Delcarmen
MR Daniel Bard
MR Craig Hansen
MR Some mix'n match free agents

If I had to guess at the Indians in 3 years I would probably go with something like this:

Lineup:
Grady Sizemore, CF
Asdrubal Cabrera, SS
Victor Martinez, C/1B
Ryan Garko, 1B
Travis Hafner/Beau Mills, DH
Jhonny Peralta, 3B
Ben Fransisco, LF
Franklin Gutierrez, RF
Josh Barfield, 2B

Bench:
Trevor Crowe, OF
Jordan Brown, 1B/DH
Kelly Shoppach, C
Andy Marte, IF

Rotation:
1. Fausto Carmona
2. Adam Miller
3. Chuck Lofgren
4. Jeremy Sowers
5. Aaron Laffey

Bullpen:
LNG: Jeff Stevens/Tom Mastny/Jeff Judy
LNG: Free Agent
MID: Reid Santos
MID: Jensen Lewis
SU: Rafael Perez
SU: Rafael Betancourt
CL: Tony Sipp

2011, huh?

Seems like that's a bit of a crapshoot in my opinion.

Thought this would've happened by now. He's always reminded me of an Abreu-type player...
