Changes to Blockbuster Online

Postby Sticky Spice » Tue Dec 25, 2007 4:34 pm

I cancelled my original subscription a year ago. I just started back up with a free month, and I've noticed some big changes.

FIrst, the plans are more expensive and they are trying to limit the in-store swaps. In fact, the free plan I grabbed that was for 3-at-a-time (with unlimited swaps) was $17.99. I say was because a week later they announce that the plan will soon be upped to $19.99.

The plan I formerly had was the 1-at-a-time with unlimited swaps. That one is jacked up to $17.99.

I also don't see any mention or can't find in my profile the coupon for one free rental a month that could even be a game rental. Did those disappear?

I'm just really surprised because I assumed that prices would either hold or go down with the competition from Netflix and the growth of internet movies on demand.

We write customer service every month and tell them what you just said, and every month they apologize for an error in their system. They never fix it, so every month we write them again, and they keep e-mailing us the coupons.

Happy New Year. ;-7

Blockbuster was losing a ton of money on the in-store swaps. They should still have a low budget plan that doesn't include the in-store exchange. AFAIK the eCoupons went away unless you had a grandfathered contract agreement.
