Ok, I haven't done hardly any research for my closers so far this year, I'm really out in left field on them. But here is a rough draft and I'm looking for some more input. I know this is a horrible list but thats why It's here and not as a column on the main page.
K-Rod Rivera Papelbon Nathan Wagner Street Putz Jenks Hoffman F.Cordero
“Never argue with a idiot, because first they will bring you down to their level. Then beat you with experience.”
This year seems to be pretty deep for closers. Considering how early the top closers always seem to go anyways, it makes a lot of sense to wait for a Rafael Soriano or Matt Capps type this year.
1. Francisco Rodriguez 2. Jonathan Papelbon 3. Joe Nathan 4. JJ Putz 5. Takashi Saito 6. Billy Wagner 7. Mariano Rivera 8. Bobby Jenks 9. Trevor Hoffman 10. Manny Corpas
I usually take a bit of a gamble when drafting closers, so I don't put a lot of stock in ranking closers too closely. Like wake said, I'd probably target guys like Capps and Soriano. I'd also look for Isringhausen, Soria, and Lidge.
1. Jonathan Papelbon 2. Francisco Rodriguez 3. Joe Nathan 4. Mariano Rivera 5. Billy Wagner 6. Takashi Saito 7. J.J. Putz (needs to do it more than one year) 8. Huston Street (Health a question mark) 9. Jenks/Hoffman/Cordero/Valverde <shrug>
