The Cincinatti Enquirer believes the Orioles have backed off their demands for Jay Bruce from the Reds in an Erik Bedard trade but are still asking for three top prospects.
Homer Bailey, Joey Votto and Johnny Cueto would qualify. If the Orioles would settle for two players from that group and a somewhat lesser property -- perhaps Edinson Volquez -- then something still could get done. However, they've never been as likely to pull off a Bedard trade as their media has tried to make it seem.

That is way too much for him. Two of three plus something else would be fair.

That would be a pretty good 123 in Bedard, Harang, and Arroyo. With a few of the younger guys to round out the rotation, and if Griffey,Freel and others can stay as healthy as possible for them they could do all right.

The Brewers and Cubs really didn't get any better (sorry signing an import coming off of elbow surgery and a rookie C with 1 good year in the minors is not a big upgrade). I could see the Reds doing something like this knowing that this year the division could be up for grabs again.
