This is the only reason I can think of as to why I play fantasy baseball. I love competing in all kinds of games, especially those that involve a great deal of strategy, but in the end, I play because I love winning and because it's fun.

I'm a numbers geek and baseball is the temple of all that is numbers.

A couple things that haven't been mentioned...

When I moved from one coast to the other I stayed in my league and fly out every year for the draft. I feel like it connects me to what I feel is my hometown and helps me keep connected to my friends.

Fantasy baseball is how I enjoy MLB now. Admittedly, I was addicted from the start (1993) to where fantasy outweighed my interest in the average game on tv and even my allegiance to my home team. But now I'm so glad I have it. I think the frequency with which MLB players change teams really bothered me to where all teams, especially my home team, started losing their identities in my eyes.

Now people ask me how I feel about the steroid scandal or the Mitchell Report. I'm just numb to it. I already feel like the game has changed to the point that it will never be like the game I loved. But now I have a new love, and I just say "they're all just pawns in MY game."

The love of the following:
1) Crunching stats, rating positions, and ranking my top 250
2) Draftday- best day of the year
3) Baseball Tonight- the everyday following of the game; For 6 months my routine is the same- cup of coffee and sit on the computer for a half hour. I'm even thinking about getting a laptop to bring to my fishing tournaments so I can make transactions if needbe.
4) Searching the available free agent players- my specialty
5) Coming up with stategies to win
6) Researching trades- letting an opponent "win" the trade but it ultimately helps you win!
7) Winning- I've been 1st or 2nd for 6 straight years.

Merry Christmas

just get yourself a solid phone with internet... would work wonders, and depending on your area of work can be handy for that as well.

1. To win - feed my competitive hunger.
2. To keep up to speed on players I otherwise wouldn't pay attention to outside of my region and/or league.
3. Because I love baseball.
4. Bragging rights as I reign thunder down upon friends.

I just love baseball mostly

Born in 76 and practially grew up @ Fenway with my Grandfather (R.I.P.) because I was there so much

Got out of baseball in general a bit after the 94 strike and jumping into Fantasy Baseball helped to not only get back to a point where I knew "all" the players again but increased my enjoyment.

The game itself (by the game i mean standard roto types) just really speaks to me and I enjoy it and generally do well

following baseball would be very boring and i probably wouldn't if it weren't for fantasy, especially when your team isn't very exciting to follow. unlike most people here, i wasn't really a fan of baseball until i got hooked on fantasy. so i can say the main reason i follow baseball nowadays is because fantasy.

mostly though, i love competing for big money prizes. i think fbb takes way too much of your time (if you play it right) to play for no money, whether i win or lose it's always rewarding and motivating to have a good prize. like this year, i won about $1500 but my big money league team fell from 1st to 3rd place in the final few weeks that cost me winning almost double what i won. i was disappointed, but it was such a fun and crazy roller coaster ride that i have no regrets and loved every bit of it.
