Thoughts on My Minor League Trade

I'm in rebuilding mode this year w/ a team full of young players like Cain, Gallardo, Bailey, Cueto, Joba, Ian Kennedy, Andrew Miller....

I just completed this trade and would like to think what you guys think...I do not have a chance IMO to compete this year.

Dan Haren

I get:
-Cameron "Webster" Maybin
-Reid "Briggy" Brignac
-Ross Detwiler

I'd still like to have Haren...you got solid prospects in return but I like the proven guys anyday over potential....especially when the proven guy in this case is still just 27 yrs old.

If you are rebuilding, I think its a great trade. Most of the time, I would agree with the last post, but Starting Pitchers' runs usually last 3-4 good years. Haren wont do it for a whole lot longer and the three prospects you are getting are Top Notch, IMO. Especially Maybin, who should start this year. Good trade.

I have to agree I like the trade. I think you could have gotten a little more. However, with Haren's move to a slightly more hitter friendly park, he could lose all the HR advancement he got last year which helped him have such a great season. Also, Maybin looks fantastic.

I was initially offered Masterson/Brignac and Pearce but then countered w/ Maybin-Detwiller-Briggy. I'm hoping Briggy moves to 2b which I hear is a possibilty since tey got Bartlett from Minn.

I think you made a very good trade if your eye is on the 2009 season which is when you may begin to break even or reap the benefits of this deal. Trades for prospects are tough to accurately grade until after 4-6 years, but it looks solid right now.

I think this was a fair trade both ways. Your goal was to re-build, therefore you accomplished that. Although Haren is only 27 yrs. old. With the solid "future" rotation you have, I like the fact you got a couple of bats in the deal.

I think you could get more as well, but I'd take what you're getting in this deal only because you're rebuilding.

This is a funny league because owners OVER value their players..for example, the guy w/ P Hughes posted a comment on the league forum saying he was shopping Hughes...for nothing less of Pujols or that sort of quality of player.
